GHS

Hello, GHS families!

Today, your student(s) took part in their first of three lessons from Common Sense Education. These lessons help students understand how to use technology safely and responsibly as they start and finish their high school careers. To view a conversation starter about today's lesson topic, click here for English or here for Spanish!

We hope you will continue this meaningful conversation at home, and look forward to continuing it here at GHS in the coming months.

Thank you!

Our theater's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream may be over, but did you know that its Playbill cover, designed by GHS student Melanie Ocampo, is going to be featured by PLAYBILLder.com? If you've ever been to Broadway, you know that this is a super special opportunity! We are so proud of our students and teachers in the Fine Arts department. Congratulations to Melanie, Ms. Day, and Mr. Burch on this accomplishment! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

On Wednesday, Goochland County Public Schools hosted a Business and Education Roundtable, bringing together more than 30 local business and community organization representatives, along with members of the Goochland County School Board, the Board of Supervisors, and some of our current students.

This collaborative event showcased the many ways GCPS prepares students for life after high schoolโ€”whether their path leads to college, careers, or serviceโ€”and provided valuable insight from our local partners about the skills and qualities they seek in future employees.

Together, weโ€™re building stronger connections between our schools, local government, and the business community to make sure every Goochland graduate is ready for whatโ€™s next! ๐Ÿ’ผ๐ŸŽ“

๐Ÿ’ฐ Real World. Real Money. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Students in Mr. Allenโ€™s Ag classes and students in Ms. EYP and Mr. Hoverโ€™s Economics & Personal Finance classes got a taste of adulthood through a hands-on financial simulation!

They were assigned careers, families, and take-home pay โ€” then had to budget for housing, childcare, insurance, and more. ๐Ÿ’ธ With help from professionals acting as apartment managers, financial advisors, and insurance agents, students learned what it takes to stay on track financially in the real world. A great day of learning how to make smart money moves for the future!

Special thanks to the Virginia Cooperative Extension for bringing this engaging activity to Goochland High School! ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿพ Homecoming Week at Goochland High School has been packed with Bulldog spirit!

From the high-energy Powderpuff game ๐Ÿˆ to seniors putting their creativity on display during โ€œSenior Chalk the Lotโ€ ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿš—, our students have made this week one to remember. Spirit Days brought out the fun too โ€” from matching looks on Twin Day ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ to the clever (and hilarious) โ€œAnything but a Backpack Day,โ€ where one Bulldog even hauled a kayak through the halls ๐Ÿ›ถ.

We love celebrating the traditions and creativity that make Homecoming at GHS so special. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ Our Goochland High School students are building skills that could save a life! Each year, nearly 200 Bulldogs are trained in recognizing cardiac emergencies and performing CPR. This round of training was led by our very own school nurse, Nurse Duffey. By learning these skills while theyโ€™re young, students are gaining the confidence to step up in an emergency โ€” both in school and out in the community๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ช.
