Dual Enrollment Fees

From The Learning Commons

All textbooks, library books, and calculators are due on Friday, May 27th. We do not assess fines, but we will charge for the replacement of lost items. We emailed all items loaned out to student emails on Friday. Thank you for supporting the school by returning borrowed materials on time!

Please email Mrs. Gilstrap (cgilstrap@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions or concerns.

Immunization Records for Graduating Seniors

Seniors, if you need your immunization records for college or a new job after graduation, Nurse Duffey can provide them. Send her an email (kduffey@glnd.k12.va.us) with your request. She will scan and email you the records within 48 hours of your request. You can also give her a call at 804-556-5322 x4875.

Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers Grand Prize

Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers held a poster design contest where students created posters that will be used in our community to help promote their program in local schools. A local winner was selected from each jurisdiction. Those winners were passed onto a regional contest with a $500 award at each level. The Grand Prize winner will receive a total of $1,000 and be honored at a Crime Stoppers Board Meeting.

GHS is honored and pleased to announce that our own Norah Lamb of Goochland High School won the jurisdiction and the regional contest and will receive $1,000! Her poster designs will be used all across the Metro Richmond area. Please join us in congratulating Nora for representing our Bulldog Family well!

Minority Law and Research Institute (MLARI)

The 22nd Annual MLARI is designed to expose underrepresented students to consider careers in law, research, and the legal profession. Students participating in this year’s Virtual On-Line institute from June 13th - 17th are rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. The institute is an effective method for identifying and recruiting students interested in career options for the legal profession. It is also an excellent way to expose and motivate students for careers in law or whatever careers they may choose. Applications are available on Schoology or in the School Counseling office, and the deadline to apply is Monday, May 23rd.

Please email one of our School Counselors if you have any questions.

Prom

Juniors and Seniors are cordially invited to "An Enchanted Evening" to celebrate the GHS 2022 Prom. Prom will be held at Adams International School on Saturday, May 21st, from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Tickets will be sold online only and will be available for pickup in the Learning Commons starting on Tuesday, May 17th. The last day to purchase tickets online will be Wednesday, May 18th, so don’t delay. Permission forms for non-GHS students are available in the front office. Please email Mrs. Lorello (llorello@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions.

PTSA Board Members Needed!

The PTSA is seeking the support of parents who want to join the PTSA Board for the 2022-2023 school year. It’s a great way to help support our students, staff, and community by providing an exceptional experience here at Goochland High School. If you or someone you know is interested in serving, please contact the GHS PTSA (goochlandhsptsa@gmail.com) for a link to their Google Form.

School Required Immunizations Clinic

GCPS will hold a vaccine clinic for school-required immunizations on Friday, May 20th, during afternoon school hours for rising 7th and 12th graders. The Tdap Booster, Meningococcal, and HPV vaccines will be administered in the GHS gymnasium (NOTE: HPV is recommended but not required for school attendance). Parents do not need to be present but will need to provide written consent for the vaccination to occur.

Please contact Kent Duffey, GHS Nurse, at 804-556-5322 or kduffey@glnd.k12.va.us if you have any questions.

Senior Project Presentations

Attention, Seniors! Senior project presentations are scheduled for May 19th and 20th. Please review the schedule and presentation rubric posted in Schoology to ensure you are prepared. You will also receive a pass from your government teacher on Monday or Tuesday that details your presentation date and time.

Please contact Ms. Bolt (abolt@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions!

Spring Testing Calendar

Please refer to the attached GHS Spring 2022 Testing Calendar for end-of-the-year testing information and upcoming events. This year, we plan to hold two asynchronous days (May 18th and May 25th) to accommodate our staffing needs during SOL testing. Only students who must take an SOL will report on those dates. All other students will work on previously assigned work from home. No one will be required to log into a virtual class on those days.

Additionally, all students must take their final exams during the specified testing window. Anyone unable to attend school during the exam window must have a parent contact their administrator.

Please contact me (cwcollier@glnd.k12.va.us) or Dr. Rainbolt (srainbolt@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions.

Thank You, Volunteers!

A huge thank you to all those who supported and contributed to our Teacher Appreciation Week festivities! Our teachers were overjoyed with your generosity and all of the great food and treats. Whether you sent an item or made a monetary contribution, rest assured that it was greatly appreciated. The GHS PTSA Board and I would like to offer sincere thanks and appreciation for your kindness and support. You all are one of the many reasons we can recruit and retain exceptional teachers. Thank you!
