ACA Reynolds Graduation Registration

The Spring 2022 Reynolds Commencement Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 15th, at 2:00 pm, at the VCU Siegel Center. To participate in the ceremony, graduates must register by April 29th. Please visit the Reynolds Graduation page to register and find additional information on how to order your cap and gown. Administrative Professionals Week

April 25th - 29th is Administrative Professionals Week. Please join us in thanking Ms. Foster (registrar), Ms. Hendricks (financial secretary), and Ms. Timberlake (front office secretary) for all they do for us at GHS! 

AP Testing

AP exam testing will begin Monday, May 2nd, and continue through Friday, May 13th. Please see the following link for specific exam time and date information. Good luck to all of our AP testers!

GCPS Sense of Belonging Survey

Please find a preview copy of the high school version of the GCPS Sense of Belonging and Inclusion Survey intended to be administered during Bulldog Block on April 26th. The survey aims to provide input on how GCPS is doing towards meeting our annual goals established per policy JFHB/GBAA. All high schoolers will participate in this survey, but please complete this form if you want to opt your child out of this survey.

We look forward to collecting this data and analyzing the survey results.

GCPS Summer Intersession Registration

The summer months are a great chance to reinforce, extend, and deepen student learning.  We are excited to offer our families a wide range of enrichment opportunities, free of charge, in June at our GCPS Summer Intersessions.  Our instructional team has worked hard to design learning experiences that will engage students in everything from the arts to physical fitness to knitting! Please check out the GCPS Intersession website for all course descriptions, the online registration form, and other important information about this opportunity. Paper registration forms can be found in any GCPS school office if you cannot complete the online registration form. Registration will close on May 6th, so please sign up soon! GHS Art Show

This year's GHS visual arts display coincides with the theater production of Cinderella. Studio art, graphic design, digital photography, and ceramics projects will be on display in the hallway and cafeteria throughout the weekend of April 29th- May 1st. The building will be open for families to walk around and see the artwork during the times listed in this flier. Come for the art and stay for the show!

Goochland Drama Presents: Cinderella (Spring Musical) 

The Goochland Drama Department's spring musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, will take place next weekend, April 29th to May 1st. Cinderella is a musical event for family members of all ages! Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. To purchase tickets, please visit drama.goochlandschools.org.  

We hope you will come out to support our student performers as they display their talents on the big stage!

Little Miss and Miss Goochland Pageant

The Goochland High School Cheer Team is excited to announce that they will host the Little Miss and Miss Goochland Pageant on Friday, May 6th. Please refer to the flyer attached HERE  for more information, and please contact Coach Toney (ctoney@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions. 

Prom

Juniors and Seniors are cordially invited to "An Enchanted Evening" to celebrate the GHS 2022 Prom. Prom will be held at Adams International School on Saturday, May 21st, from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Tickets will be sold online only starting on Monday, May 2nd. Permission forms for non-GHS students are available in the front office. PTSA Needs Your Help

Please help the GHS PTSA recognize the hard work and dedication of our GHS teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2nd  through May 6th. They are helping with three events to celebrate our teachers and need volunteers. They have listed specific items necessary for the events on their Signup Genius and included slots for your ideas. SCA and Class Applications

Students! Are you interested in being a leader next year and representing your classmates? If so, please consider applying for Student Council Advisory or Class Council. Positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer for the SCA and each class. Responsibilities include attending monthly meetings and helping plan fun events for the student body, such as Homecoming, Spirit Weeks, and Helping Paws Community Day. Those interested in applying should see Ms. Coddington in B122 for an application and to learn more about the process.

Scheduling 2022-2023SY

Course Verification Sheets were sent home with students in Bulldog Block on Tuesday, April 19th. Parents, please review your child’s course requests and complete the Course Change Form on the back of the Course Verification Sheet if you would like to make a change. Senior Signing Day

We will celebrate our seniors’ post-secondary plans on Monday, May 2nd, during our annual Senior Signing Day. To plan a successful event, we ask all seniors to fill out this survey to let us know their plans for next year. We also ask all seniors or senior parents to submit a photo for our Senior slideshow. For this event, Seniors are encouraged to wear a t-shirt of their college, trade school, branch of the military, or workplace. 

We look forward to celebrating our seniors on May 2nd!

Spring Student Meeting

The GHS administrative team will hold a virtual meeting with underclassmen during Bulldog Block on Monday, April 25th. We plan to review GCPS policies, remind students of school-wide expectations, and provide information regarding our spring testing and events calendar. 

We look forward to meeting with our students to clarify expectations and offer student supports as we close out the 2021-22 school year.

Spring Testing Calendar

Please refer to the GHS Spring 2022 Testing Calendar for end-of-the-year testing information and upcoming events. This year, we plan to hold two asynchronous days to accommodate our staffing needs during SOL testing. Only students who must take an SOL will report on those dates. All other students will work on previously assigned work from home. No one will be required to log into a virtual class on those days.

Additionally, all students must take their final exams during the specified testing window. Anyone unable to attend school during the exam window must have a parent contact their administrator.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, the GCPS mental health team members will offer a final Youth Mental Health First Aid Training course on Friday, May 6th. This training will take place virtually via Zoom from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm and is designed for adults who have frequent contact with youth, such as GCPS parents, school staff, coaches, volunteers, and Goochland community members. Youth Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training that teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to children and youth who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
