PSAT Scores from the October testing are available Monday, December 6, 2021, on your child’s CollegeBoard account. Please go to https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/scores/getting-scores to learn how they can access their scores. Students should use the same email address that they used on their answer sheet on test day. An email will also be sent to that email address for them to access their scores.
Band Oculus Quest 2 Raffle
Students, do you want a chance to win an Oculus Quest 2 VR Gaming System? If so, purchase a $10 Raffle ticket using the QR codes in the school hallway or click on this link. Tickets will be sold until 7:00 pm on Friday, December 10th, or until all 300 tickets are sold. The drawing will occur at the Performing Arts Holiday Concert on Friday, December 10th, but you do not need to be present to win. All proceeds will go to support the Goochland High School & Middle School Band and Auxiliary.
Boys Lacrosse Meeting
There will be an interest meeting on Wednesday, December 8th during Bulldog Block for any boys in grades 9-11 who are interested in playing lacrosse in the spring. Students are to report to their Bulldog Block and then head to the cafeteria. If you have any questions, please see Coach Fowler.
Bulldog Corner Store
Do you need holiday gift ideas for family and friends? If so, look no further! If you are a student, stop by the GHS School Store every Friday to purchase your Bulldog Apparel! Parents and students can also order online through the Goochland High School website. We will only be open for two more Fridays before winter break, so don’t delay! Please contact Mrs. Whitmore (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions.
The GHS Dance Company will perform in their Winter Dance Recital on Wednesday, December 8th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium. Come out and support our dancers as they display their talents through classical and modern dance routines!
GHS Midterm Exam Week begins on Monday, December 13th, and ends on Thursday, December 16th. School will operate on a normal bell schedule for exams, but each block has a specified examination period in hopes to prevent students from having more than two exams on any given day. Not all teachers will administer an exam, so please check with your child’s teachers if you are unclear. Here is the exam schedule for the week:
- Monday, December 13th: Day 2/Block 1 and Day 2/Block 3 exams
- Tuesday, December 14th: Day 1/Block 1 and Day 1/Block 3 exams
- Wednesday, December 15th: Day 2/Block 2 and Day 2/Block 4 exams
- Thursday, December 16th: Day 1/Block 2 and Day 1/Block 4 exams
We will end the week with an early dismissal at 1:35 pm on Friday, December 17th.
As a reminder, the end of marking period 2 and semester 1 is Friday, December 17th. Students, please make sure that all of your marking period 2 work is completed and turned in to your teachers. Parents, feel free to reach out directly to your child’s teachers with any specific questions about grades and assignments. Let’s close out the 1st semester strong!
Graduation Site Survey
Attention seniors and senior parents, we will administer a brief survey to seniors during Bulldog Block this week to seek their feedback on their graduation site preference. I have attached a screenshot of the survey below. Please let me know if you do not want your child to participate in the survey. We look forward to their feedback!
As a reminder, the back patio will be closed to students and staff as the patio expansion project continues this week. Upon completion, this project will ultimately provide greater outdoor space for students. Once again, any students who enter the building from the back parking lot must enter through Door 3 near the greenhouse in the mornings and afternoons rather than through the cafeteria doors.
Performing Arts Holiday Concert
Also, come out to support the Goochland High School Performing Arts department this Friday, December 10th at 6:00 pm. The GHS Band and Chorus groups will be collaborating to bring a Holiday Celebration to Goochland High School. Admission is free, so join our students as they bring in the holiday season!

Summer Residential Governor's School Applications Are LIVE!
Summer Residential Governor's School applications are now available on the VDOE website. Each program is open to Sophomores and Juniors only. The programs are for four weeks during the month of July and are free to students. These fantastic opportunities take place on college campuses across the Commonwealth and offer a variety of fun and enriching activities to explore.
Be advised that you will need two teacher evaluations to apply, and applications are due on January 6, 2022. Please reach out to Ms. Coddington (email@example.com) if you have any questions about specific programs or how to apply. GHS would love to have our students apply to these fantastic opportunities!
Are you a student-athlete at GHS? Are you interested in helping out your community? Do you like working with elementary school kids? Have you lettered in a varsity sport? If you said yes to these questions, then the Varsity Club is for you. GHS is forming a Varsity Club to participate in community service activities and to work with some of our younger students at the elementary level. There will be an interest meeting on Tuesday, December 7th at 10:45 am in the cafeteria. Please see Josh Usry or Coach Fowler for more information.
