We are so proud of each of you. Thank you for embodying what it means to be a Goochland Bulldog. Congrats to you all!

Bulldog Corner Store

Do you need holiday gift ideas for family and friends? If so, look no further! If you are a student, stop by the GHS School Store every Friday to purchase your Bulldog Apparel! Parents and students can also order online through the Goochland High School website. We will only be open for four more Fridays before winter break, so don’t delay! Please contact Mrs. Whitmore (ewhitmore@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions.

Christmas Mother Food Drive

Attention students: The Interact Club asks YOU to donate to the Christmas Mother canned food drive. Canned food items such as meats, beans, and peanut butter are preferred, but all donations are appreciated. GHS will collect donations during Bulldog Blocks from November 15th - 19th. There will be a prize for the Bulldog Block that collects the most food items. For more information, please contact Ms. Gargiulo (agargiulo@glnd.k12.va.us) or Ms. Rodriguez (arodriquez@glnd.k12.va.us).

Covid-19 Vaccination Clinics

Goochland County Public Schools is partnering with the Virginia Department of Health to provide COVID-19 vaccine clinics to GCPS students between the ages of 5 and 11. All vaccines are free, and the clinic dates and times are:

  • Thursday, November 18th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Byrd Elementary)
  • Friday, November 19th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Goochland Elementary)

Please complete this form to request appointments for each child who wishes to receive the vaccine. If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse, Kent Duffey (kduffey@glnd.k12.va.us) or Jennifer Waggener (jwaggener@glnd.k12.va.us).

GHS PTSA Membership Drive

The Goochland High School PTSA is holding a membership drive during November. Please consider joining the GHS PTSA, as they support our students and staff with many things throughout the school year. Simply go to their MemberHub website, create an account, and pay the $10 membership fee. It’s that easy!

See this flyer for more details. Please email the GHS PTSA at goochlandhsptsa@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Patio Expansion

As a reminder, the back patio will be closed to students and staff as the patio expansion project continues this week. Upon completion, this project will ultimately provide greater outdoor space for students. Once again, any students who enter the building from the back parking lot must enter through Door 3 near the greenhouse in the mornings and afternoons rather than through the cafeteria doors.

Poinsettia Sale

It’s that time again! Please consider ordering beautiful Poinsettias from our very own Southern States to support Goochland County All Night Graduation. They invite you to ask your friends, family, church, and business to order online using this link. The All Night Graduation Committee appreciates your support!

Sick Kicks Shoe Drive

Goochland High School is continuing the Sick Kicks Shoe Drive program again this year! The final collection day will be Wednesday, December 1st. This deadline will provide us with enough time for organizing, sanitizing, and sorting the shoes to prepare them for distribution on Saturday, December 11th.

If you would like to donate shoes, please drop them off at the high school in the hallway near the front entrance during the school day. We have a donation box in the foyer. We will also accept donations during home football games throughout the fall. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Hailey (21teaguea@glnd.k12.va.us), Easton (22bowmane@glnd.k12.va.us), or me (cwcollier@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions.

SOAR

If your child is a sophomore, they may be eligible to participate in the SOAR Virginia program. SOAR Virginia is sponsored by Virginia529 and brought to you by GRASP. To participate, eligible students pledge to meet program requirements. In return, students receive a range of assistance and may accumulate scholarship support of up to $2,000 to apply toward their post-secondary education expenses.

For more information about SOAR, please go to https://grasp4va.org/soar and to apply. Also, please have your child turn in an Enrollment form to School Counseling by November 15th, 2021. There are only a limited number of students selected.  For more information, please contact Laurie Deadrick at goochland@grasp4va.org

Summer Residential Governor's School Applications Are LIVE!

Summer Residential Governor's School applications are now available on the VDOE website. Each program is available to Sophomores and Juniors only. The programs are for four weeks during the month of July and are free to students. These fantastic opportunities take place on college campuses across the Commonwealth and offer a variety of fun and enriching activities to explore.

Be advised that you will need two teacher evaluations to apply, and applications are due on January 6, 2022. Please reach out to Ms. Coddington (ecoddington@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions about specific programs or how to apply. GHS would love to have our students apply to these fantastic opportunities!
