Academic Awards Ceremony

We are excited to announce that we will recognize almost 300 students at this year’s Academic Awards Ceremony for their academic excellence during the 2020-21 school year. We will post our Virtual Academic Awards Ceremony via Schoology on Monday, October 18th at 6:00 pm. If your child is being recognized in the awards ceremony video, you received a notification on Tuesday, October 12th. If you did not receive news but feel that is a mistake, please contact Mrs. Foster (rfoster@glnd.k12.va.us) in School Counseling. We look forward to celebrating Bulldog scholars on Monday night!

Athletics and Activities

Please visit www.GoochlandBulldogs.com for up-to-date schedule information. Many of these events can be streamed live at www.NFHSNetwork.com. Feel free to reach out to Joe Fowler (jfowler@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions or need more information.

Bulldog BARKS Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received Bulldog BARKS awards from our faculty and staff for representing our core values during the month of September. They are:

  • Bold: Ella Arnold
  • Authentic: Reese Vincent
  • Responsible: Tres Dandridge
  • Kind: Laura Monger
  • Successful: Isaac Bustos

We are so proud of each of you. Thank you for embodying what it means to be a Goochland Bulldog. Congrats to you all!

Financial Aid Night

The GHS School Counseling Department is partnering with GRASP and the University of Richmond Office of Financial Aid to provide a Financial Aid Night on Monday, November 1st at 6:00 pm.  This event will be virtual and accessed with this Google Meet Link (or by calling (US) +1 240-356-1446 PIN: ‪742 654 516#).

Gallup Poll

The Gallup Student Poll is a 20-question survey that measures hope, engagement, and well-being for students in grades 5-12. Please click on this link for additional information.  Students will be surveyed on Wednesday, October 27th, during 3rd Block. The survey will not ask for any information that can identify your student, and it should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.  If you would like to opt out of this survey, please make a written request to your child’s school.  If you have any questions, please contact Catherine Richards, Goochland High School’s Instructional Technology Coach, at crichards@glnd.k12.va.us. The feedback we collect from this survey will guide our work to continue to deliver a quality educational experience for your child, and we appreciate your support.

GCPS Closed

As a reminder, Goochland County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, October 25th for Parent/Teacher conferences and also on Tuesday, October 26th for a teacher professional development day. We hope you all enjoy your extra-long weekend!

Last Call For Senior Photos

Attention Seniors: Monday, October 18th is the last call for Senior Portraits through GHS and Lifetouch. If you have done so already, please reach out to Ms. Coddington (ecoddington@glnd.k12.va.us) to add your name to the list to receive a pass for an appointment time tomorrow morning to take your photos.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

The teachers at Goochland High School are looking forward to meeting with you during Parent-Teacher Conferences on Monday, October 25th, from 12:00 - 7:00 PM.

Parents will be able to make appointments with teachers for the Parent-Teacher Conferences online. You have the option to meet in person or request a Google Meet link to meet virtually. You will be able to register by visiting the following link:

https://www.ptcfast.com/school... . Conference registration is now open. If you would like to request a virtual conference, please reply with that request to the confirmation email you receive when you sign up with each teacher.

Directions for using this system are available here: https://tinyurl.com/GHSPTCDire...

You are a vital partner in your child’s education, and these conferences play an essential role in helping us plan and implement programs to meet the educational needs of your child. If you cannot or do not wish to register online, or if you cannot schedule a conference for this day, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher(s) directly to arrange a meeting.

If you have technical difficulties, please contact the school and ask for Catherine Richards, Goochland High School’s Instructional Technology Coach, or you can reach her by email at crichards@glnd.k12.va.us

We look forward to seeing you on Monday, October 25th!

Patio Expansion

As a reminder, the back patio will be closed to students and staff as the patio expansion project continues this week. Upon completion, this project will ultimately provide greater outdoor space for students. Once again, any students who enter the building from the back parking lot must enter through Door 3 near the greenhouse in the mornings and afternoons rather than through the cafeteria doors.

Rock Your School Day

We will participate in the fourth annual worldwide Rock Your School Day on Thursday, October 21st, to celebrate our students, teachers, and the entire Bulldog community. We’ve learned that joy can be found even in the smallest of moments, despite whatever we may be facing. We’ve also learned that students still show up, teachers still work hard, and education still needs to be celebrated. Please join us in dressing up in your favorite rock gear to help rock our school on Thursday!

Senior Regional Orchestra Qualification

Congratulations to Senior Erin Clark for qualifying for Senior Regional Orchestra on Piccolo. Erin was the only student from our Region (which extends from Henrico and Chesterfield, all the way to Blacksburg) to qualify for the ensemble. This also qualifies Erin to audition for All-State Band. Way to go, Erin!

Sick Kicks Shoe Drive

We are excited to announce that Goochland High School will continue the Sick Kicks Shoe Drive program again this year! They began collecting shoe donations on Monday, September 27th, and scheduled the final collection day for Wednesday, December 1st. They chose these dates to allow maximum time for donations to be accepted and enough time for organizing, sanitizing, and sorting the shoes to prepare them for distribution on Saturday, December 11th.

If you would like to donate shoes, please drop them off at the high school in the hallway near the front entrance during the school day. We will have a donation box in the foyer. We will also accept donations during home football games throughout the fall. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Hailey (21teaguea@glnd.k12.va.us), Easton (22bowmane@glnd.k12.va.us), or me (cwcollier@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions.

Underclass Pictures

To allow students to dress for Spirit Week, we have postponed our underclass picture days. Instead of this week, we will take Underclass pictures on Thursday, October 28th, and Friday, October 29th, 2021. Freshmen and sophomores will take pictures through PE classes. Juniors will take pictures through English classes. Students can pick up a picture form from their PE or English teachers later in the month. Freshmen and Sophomores not in a PE class will take their pictures during their Bulldog Block. See Ms. Coddington for a form in B122. The last call for Seniors is Monday, October 18th. Please email questions to Ms. Coddington (ecoddington@glnd.k12.va.us).

Anyone interested in trying out for winter sideline cheer must complete this google form prior to tryouts.  Cheer tryouts will be held on November 10th, 11th, and 12th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Please email Coach Toney (ctoney@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions.
