💥💥Bulldog Recognitions💥💥
Class of 2025 College Acceptances - Attention seniors! We would love to acknowledge your college acceptances as you have gotten in. Please fill out this form. You must be logged in to your GLND email to access to submit. Please let us know so we can recognize YOU for your accomplishments! Be sure to contact your counselor with any questions. HERE is a map of where our seniors have been accepted so far.
Get to Know Some of our Amazing Bulldogs - Throughout the remainder of the school year, we will be highlighting our “teacher-recognized” students each week.
Leiara Scott and MaLeah Cowan were nominated by Ms. Tolson for their amazing senior project: our GHS Step Team! We interviewed them to learn more about it. The inspiration for this project was the need to create more diverse spirit activities. The girls say that the hardest part, besides getting high schoolers to follow directions (haha), is finding time to choreograph AND teach everyone! Everyone has busy schedules, so it's hard to discover and learn new choreo themselves and teach it to the team. Finally, you can watch them perform on their Instagram account @GHS_Step_Team or live at basketball games, the upcoming Black History Month pep rally, and their showcase (more details to come). If you are interested in joining the Step Team, please contact Leiara or MaLeah on Canvas for details!
Goochland County Public Schools Teacher of the Year - At the January school board meeting on Tuesday night, Mrs. Rachel Tate (rtate@glnd.k12.va.us) was recognized as the county-wide teacher of the year. Mrs. Tate’s ability to multi-task is truly amazing. She wears so many hats at GHS (History Teacher of VA&US History (standard & honors) and US History 121-122/AP US History, SCA sponsor working closely with our 10th-grade sponsor to plan all of the Homecoming festivities at GHS, and sponsor of our ever-growing Veterans Project). She handles all of these jobs with a smile on her face. Mrs. Tate is one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever met. She is often the first teacher in the building in the morning and the last one to leave in the evening. Most of her days are filled with student tutoring, extra remediation, and school event planning to improve the Bulldog experience each year. Her kind personality, love for teaching, and passion for student learning make her a valued team member! We are very fortunate to have her as a part of the Bulldog Family!

REMINDERS
Attendance Procedure Reminders - As we begin a new semester, we would like to remind students and parents of our attendance procedures at GHS. As in previous years, we ask that parents call the school between 8:00 - 10:00 am to report their child’s absence. Absent students must bring a note on the first day they return to school stating the reason(s) for their absences. Notes are held as legal records of student absences. In lieu of a handwritten note, parents may email our attendance secretary at bulldogs@glnd.k12.va.us. In addition, students wishing to leave school early without their parents present must bring a written excuse signed by their parents by 10:00 am the day of the early dismissal. In lieu of a handwritten note, parents may email their request for early dismissal to bulldogs@glnd.k12.va.us. This email must come from the parent’s email address, not the student’s email address. In the case of an emergency, parents may call in and ask for administrative approval for an early release over the phone. A huge thanks to all of our student’s parents who have helped us by following these procedures throughout the first semester.
Electronic Distribution of Flyers - Throughout the 24.25 school year, please visit this website for upcoming events or activities throughout the Goochland community.
Message from Nurse Griffith - It’s Flu Season! Click HERE for some helpful tips on preventing influenza (Flu). Please also remember, that if your child is sick, they can not return to school until they are fever-free and symptom-free for 24 hours. If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Griffith (lgriffith@glnd.k12.va.us). Thank you!
Parking Passes for Students - Second-semester parking passes are on sale through the Online School Payment System. Students who plan to drive to school in January through the end of the school year, must pay the $37.50 parking fee and complete the parking contract and application. These forms should be printed and brought to the GHS main office for processing. Applications must be printed and submitted in person. Students who purchased a yearlong pass at the beginning of the school year, do not need to purchase an additional pass for 2nd semester. Please contact Ms. Coiner at ecoiner@glnd.k12.va.us with any questions.
