💥💥Bulldog Recognitions💥💥

Regional Theatre - Congratulations to the Goochland Drama Department! The Theatre Arts II/III/IV students took first place at last weekend's 3B Super Region One-Act Play Competition at Warren County High School. Since the team took first place, the team now advances to the State tournament, which will be held in Charlottesville on Saturday, December 7th. Goochland High School has only been to states twice, once in the 1980s and the other in 2016. Out of all the competition's performers, Kaelyn Roy won the Top 3B Regional Outstanding Performer! The Drama Team would like to thank all of the parent volunteers who assisted with our show last weekend and the GHS Marching Band members who came to Warren County to watch the team perform! Way to go, Bulldogs!

Staff Monthly BARKS - Congratulations to Ms. Anna Calabrese (English Department) - acalabrese@glnd.k12.va.us and Ms. Teidra White (Special Education Department) tmorriswhite@glnd.k12.va.us for being awarded our November Faculty Bulldog BARKS award. We received over 30 staff member nominations from our faculty, students, and parents. Thank you to all who nominated one of our staff members. All nominations will be shared with those individual staff members!

REMINDERS

Athletics Survey - Since we have closed out the fall athletic season, our athletics department would like to hear feedback from our parents and student-athletes. Parents, please use the link to the 2024/25 Parent End of Season Survey, and students should use the link to the 2024/25 Student End of Season Survey to provide us with commendations and suggestions for improvement. We look forward to reviewing the results.

Electronic Distribution of Flyers - Throughout the 24.25 school year, please visit this website for upcoming events or activities throughout the Goochland community.

Tardy Sweeps - As a reminder, here are the details of our Tardy Sweep process:

  • After the tardy bell rings, we will announce that we will begin a tardy clean sweep over the PA.

  • All teachers will close and lock their doors once they hear the announcement.

  • Teachers will not allow students to enter the classroom and direct them to the cafeteria.

  • Teachers will not allow students to exit their classrooms during the clean sweep to enable our administrators to process the students caught in the clean sweep.

  • Once administrators have swept through the hallways and bathrooms, they will assign lunch detention to any students caught in the clean sweep without a valid GHS SmartPass.

  • After administrators complete the disciplinary process, students caught in the sweep will return to their classrooms with a pass from the administration.

  • Once students have a tardy clean sweep pass, teachers will allow them into their classrooms.

  • Once the tardy clean sweep is over, administrators will make another announcement to inform everyone that the sweep has concluded.

Tardy clean sweeps may be implemented at any time during the school day, including the morning tardy bell at 9:06 am. Should your child have an excuse for tardiness due to an appointment, etc., please send your child into the building with a note to turn in to the main office.

Parents, please discuss the importance of arriving at school and class on time with your child. We look forward to continued partnerships with our students, parents, and community members to uphold the standards of excellence at Goochland High School.
