💥💥Student Recognitions💥💥

Cross Country - The Cross Country teams finished their season last week at the Class 3B Regional race at Pole Green Park. Senior Dustin Brown placed 25th and Sophomore Andrea Rogerson placed 24th to lead the Bulldog runners on the day. Multiple runners set personal best times at Regionals including Luke Boyle, Alex Darr, Brayden Funkhouser, and Lily Medlin. Congratulations to all the runners for competing throughout the season and reaching personal bests weekly.

One-Act Play Competition -  Congratulations to the Drama Dogs for their first-place finish in the Region 3B sub-regional One Act Play competition on Saturday at Kettle Run High School! They now advance to the regional finals at Warren County on Saturday, November 16th.  Kaelyn Roy and Connor Davis were named the outstanding performers! Good luck to these rockstars and Mr. Burch next weekend!

Straight “A” Student Recognition - Our GHS administration recognized 130 Bulldog students on Monday for earning straight “A’s” during the first marking period! Each student was recognized during their block 2 class and was awarded candy, along with a “FREE pass” to any GHS-sponsored event during the school year! Keep up the good work, Bulldogs!

Volleyball - The Volleyball team fell short on Thursday in the regional semi-finals in a tough-fought, four-set match to Warren County. The Lady Bulldogs had an incredible 17 - 4 season. Our graduating seniors will be very missed as they led the team all season! Avery Jastrzemski broke the record for most kills in a season and her career, Ella Pillsbury broke the record for the most assists in a season, and Ava Garrison finished her career with over 500 digs. We are so proud of the whole team for their hard work this season!

REMINDERS

Electronic Distribution of Flyers - Throughout the 24.25 school year, please visit this website for upcoming events or activities throughout the Goochland community.

Tardy Sweeps - As a reminder, here are the details of our Tardy Sweep process:

  • After the tardy bell rings, we will announce that we will begin a tardy clean sweep over the PA.

  • All teachers will close and lock their doors once they hear the announcement.

  • Teachers will not allow students to enter the classroom and direct them to the cafeteria.

  • Teachers will not allow students to exit their classrooms during the clean sweep to enable our administrators to process the students caught in the clean sweep.

  • Once administrators have swept through the hallways and bathrooms, they will assign lunch detention to any students caught in the clean sweep without a valid GHS SmartPass.

  • After administrators complete the disciplinary process, students caught in the sweep will return to their classrooms with a pass from the administration.

  • Once students have a tardy clean sweep pass, teachers will allow them into their classrooms.

  • Once the tardy clean sweep is over, administrators will make another announcement to inform everyone that the sweep has concluded.

Tardy clean sweeps may be implemented at any time during the school day, including the morning tardy bell at 9:06 am. Should your child have an excused tardy due to an appointment, etc., please send your child into the building with a note to turn in to the main office.

Parents, please discuss the importance of arriving at school and class on time with your child. We look forward to continued partnerships with our students, parents, and community members to uphold the standards of excellence at Goochland High School.
