Class of 2024 College Acceptances
Attention seniors! We would love to acknowledge your college acceptances as you have gotten in. Please fill out this form. You must be logged in to your GLND email to access to submit. Please let us know so we can recognize YOU! Be sure to contact your counselor with any questions. HERE is a map of where our seniors have been accepted so far.
DCJS Student Survey
In cooperation with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Virginia Department of Education, Goochland High School is conducting the Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions for students, teachers, and staff in January 2024. Students will take the survey in school on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. The purpose of this survey is to measure student support, student engagement, school discipline, and safety conditions in our school. For more information, please click here. The survey is voluntary, and your child can decide not to participate at any time. Exam Schedule
GHS Midterm Exam Week begins on Friday, December 15th, and ends on Wednesday, December 20th. The school will operate on a normal bell schedule for exams, but each block has a specified examination period in hopes of preventing students from having more than two exams on any given day. Not all teachers will administer an exam, so please check with your child’s teachers if you are unclear. Here is the exam schedule for the week:
Friday, December 15th: Day 2/Block 1 and Day 2/Block 3 exams
Monday, December 18th: Day 1/Block 1 and Day 1/Block 3 exams
Tuesday, December 19th: Day 2/Block 2 and Day 2/Block 4 exams
Wednesday, December 20th: Day 1/Block 2 and Day 1/Block 4 exams
We will end the week with an early dismissal at 1:35 pm on Thursday, December 21st.
FAFSA
Major changes and improvements are coming to the 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. This redesigned and streamlined FAFSA form will be available by December 31st, 2023.

Feed More Food Bus
The Feed More Food Bus will be at the Goochland YMCA once a month on the dates listed below. The Food Bus will provide fruits, vegetables, and other food items for free to children in need.
The bus is only for children ages 6-18.
Children must accompany the parent/adult. Only children are allowed to go onto the bus to shop. Parents/adults will not be allowed on the bus.
The bus does not require any proof of income etc. to shop.

Free Farmer’s Market
Between December 18th - 20th from 2:30 - 5:00 pm, our GHS cafeteria staff will be conducting a FREE farmer’s market near the student parking lot. Please make plans to stop by and pick up some fresh produce, cookies, cider, and holiday music!
Grades
As a reminder, the end of marking period 2 and semester 1 is Thursday, December 21st. Students, please make sure that all of your marking period 2 work is completed and turned in to your teachers. Parents, feel free to reach out directly to your child’s teachers with any specific questions about grades and assignments. Let’s close out the 1st semester strong!
Holiday Performances
Come out and enjoy a night of holiday festivities and get into the holiday spirit! The chorus will have its winter holiday concert on Monday, December 11th at 7:00 PM. Our Dance Recital will be on Thursday, December 14th at 6:30 PM.
Prom Planning Committee
Attention Juniors and Seniors! Who wants to (plan a) party?! Goochland High School will host our 2024 Prom at Hermitage Country Club on Saturday, April 27th from 7:00 - 10:00 pm, but we need your help! If you want your input heard for the event, please consider joining the Prom Planning Committee. We will meet once a month until closer to prom to discuss possible themes, fundraising, and what YOU want at prom. Our first official meeting will be on Friday, December 15th during Bulldog Block in the LC. Contact Mrs. Lorello (LLorello@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions or suggestions!
Winter Break
GCPS will be closed from December 22nd - January 7th for Winter Break. We will resume school on Monday, January 8th.
