Graduation Announcements - Cap/Gown Orders

This message is to notify you of the upcoming deadline to order Custom School Announcements as well as Cap/Gown for graduation. The last date to order Goochland High School Custom School Announcements for Graduation from Jostens, our preferred provider, is Friday, December 1st. Ordering before this date ensures that you will receive the official announcements for the school to send out to your friends and families in the spring. Please be mindful that Jostens met with the senior class in August and they provided each senior with a packet that included a catalog with all of the senior products they have to offer as well as an order form. The easiest way to order these items, however, is by using this link

If you haven't already done so, it is time to place orders for your cap and gown before the price increases! Please use one of the following links to place your order and feel free to email Ms. Reahard (treahard@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions:

Cap and Gown Unit - this is ALL that is required of you to purchase AND includes your tassel.

Graduation packages - this includes all other items that you may choose to purchase.

Prom Planning Committee

Attention Juniors and Seniors! Who wants to (plan a) party?! Goochland High School will host our 2024 Prom at Hermitage Country Club on Saturday, April 27th from 7:00 - 10:00 pm, but we need your help! If you want your input heard for the event, please consider joining the Prom Planning Committee. We will meet once a month until closer to prom to discuss possible themes, fundraising, and what YOU want at prom. Our first official meeting will be on Friday, December 15th during Bulldog Block in the LC. Contact Mrs. Lorello (LLorello@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions or suggestions!

SOAR Virginia

SOAR Virginia® is an Early Commitment Scholarship Program created and funded by Virginia529℠ to inspire and assist high school students in reaching their post-secondary education goals. To participate, eligible students pledge to meet program requirements. In return, students receive a range of assistance and may accumulate scholarship support of up to $2,000 to apply toward their post-secondary education expenses.

The qualifications and pledge information can be found on the brochure. The deadline to apply has been extended to December 1st, 2023. Contact our GRASP Advisor, Mrs. Lindsay Bradley at goochland@grasp4va.org to learn more.

Student Parking

We have begun giving out fines for students who do not have a parking sticker in their car. If you have turned in your parking application, contract, and payment, you can pick up your parking sticker from the front office before school starts, during lunch, or during bulldog block.

If you lose your parking sticker, the fee is $5.00. If you drive up to two vehicles, please provide that information to Ms. Simmons so we can have an account of the cars being parked on campus. Please use the link Lost Parking Stickers/Add a Vehicle to make your request for a new sticker or to add a new vehicle. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Simmons (lsimmons@glnd.k12.va.us).

Student Pictures

Underclassmen's make-up picture day will be Tuesday, November 28th. Students who missed the original picture day or wish to retake their pictures can do so on this day.  Please contact Ms. Mistler (kmistler@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions.

Tardy Sweeps

As a reminder from the August 27th edition of the Bulldog Bulletin, here are the details of our Tardy Sweep process:

  • After the tardy bell rings, we will announce that we will begin a tardy clean sweep over the PA.

  • All teachers will close and lock their doors once they hear the announcement.

  • Teachers will not allow students to enter the classroom and direct them to the cafeteria.

  • Teachers will not allow students to exit their classrooms during the clean sweep to enable our administrators to process the students caught in the clean sweep.

  • Once administrators have swept through the hallways and bathrooms, they will assign lunch detention to any students caught in the clean sweep without a valid GHS SmartPass.

  • After administrators complete the disciplinary process, students caught in the sweep will return to their classrooms with a pass from the administration.

  • Once students have a tardy clean sweep pass, teachers will allow them into their classrooms.

  • Once the tardy clean sweep is over, administrators will make another announcement to inform everyone that the sweep has concluded.

Tardy clean sweeps may be implemented at any time during the school day, including the morning tardy bell at 9:05 am. Should your child have an excused tardy due to an appointment, etc., please send your child into the building with a note to turn in to the main office.

Parents, please discuss the importance of arriving at school and class on time with your child. We look forward to continued partnerships with our students, parents, and community members to uphold the standards of excellence at Goochland High School.

Teen Driver Seminar

Attention teen drivers! The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office has decided to host another teen driver seminar for community teen drivers on Saturday, December 2nd, at Goochland High School from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The class will consist of two parts of instruction. The first will be taught in the classroom, and the second part will consist of several mock traffic stops and golf cart driving courses. Participants must be Goochland residents, high-school students under 18, and possess a minimum of a learner's permit. As a bonus, lunch will be provided to all participants.

Please contact Deputy Scott Leabough (sleabough@goochlandva.us) or the Sherriff’s Office (804-556-5349) if you have any questions or need assistance with registration.
