Goochland Christmas Mother Food Drive
It is that time of year again for the Goochland Christmas Mother Food Drive. GHS will be collecting canned for this week from Monday, November 13th - Thursday, November 16th. The food will be picked up on Friday morning, November 17th. We are offering an Open Gym for the students who bring in 2 cans of food. They just need to sign up using the QR codes posted on the peach flyers in the hallway. Your child is welcome to bring in canned food and not participate in the Open Gym. They just bring food and give it to their 1st block teacher. We are looking for canned meats, peanut butter, or any other nonperishable foods that you would like to give to the Christmas Mother. Be a Christmas Angel and give to those in need in Goochland County.
Club Fair
On Friday, November 17th students will participate in a club fair during 3rd period. GHS has over 30 clubs and organizations to choose from. The club fair is a great opportunity to learn about our groups and how to get involved on campus! Check out the groups and organizations here: GHS Clubs and Organizations

Prom Planning Committee
Attention Juniors and Seniors! Who wants to (plan a) party?! Goochland High School will host our 2024 Prom at Hermitage Country Club on Saturday, April 27th from 7:00 - 10:00 pm, but we need your help! If you want your input heard for the event, please consider joining the Prom Planning Committee. We will meet once a month until closer to prom to discuss possible themes, fundraising, and what YOU want at prom. Our first official meeting will be on Friday, December 15th during Bulldog Block in the LC. Contact Mrs. Lorello (LLorello@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions or suggestions!
SOAR Virginia
SOAR Virginia® is an Early Commitment Scholarship Program created and funded by Virginia529℠ to inspire and assist high school students in reaching their post-secondary education goals. To participate, eligible students pledge to meet program requirements. In return, students receive a range of assistance and may accumulate scholarship support of up to $2,000 to apply toward their post-secondary education expenses.
The qualifications and pledge information can be found on the brochure. The deadline to apply is November 15th, 2023. Contact our GRASP Advisor, Mrs. Lindsay Bradley at goochland@grasp4va.org to learn more.
Student Pictures
Underclassmen's make-up picture day will be Tuesday, November 28th. Students who missed the original picture day or wish to retake their pictures can so so on this day. Please contact Ms. Mistler (kmistler@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions.
Tardy Sweeps
As a reminder from the August 27th edition of the Bulldog Bulletin, here are the details of our Tardy Sweep process:
After the tardy bell rings, we will announce that we will begin a tardy clean sweep over the PA.
All teachers will close and lock their doors once they hear the announcement.
Teachers will not allow students to enter the classroom and direct them to the cafeteria.
Teachers will not allow students to exit their classrooms during the clean sweep to enable our administrators to process the students caught in the clean sweep.
Once administrators have swept through the hallways and bathrooms, they will assign lunch detention to any students caught in the clean sweep without a valid GHS SmartPass.
After administrators complete the disciplinary process, students caught in the sweep will return to their classrooms with a pass from the administration.
Once students have a tardy clean sweep pass, teachers will allow them into their classrooms.
Once the tardy clean sweep is over, administrators will make another announcement to inform everyone that the sweep has concluded.
Tardy clean sweeps may be implemented at any time during the school day, including the morning tardy bell at 9:05 am. Should your child have an excused tardy due to an appointment, etc., please send your child into the building with a note to turn in to the main office.
Parents, please discuss the importance of arriving at school and class on time with your child. We look forward to continued partnerships with our students, parents, and community members to uphold the standards of excellence at Goochland High School.
Teen Driver Seminar
Attention teen drivers! The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office has decided to host another teen driver seminar for community teen drivers on Saturday, December 2nd, at Goochland High School from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The class will consist of two parts of instruction. The first will be taught in the classroom, and the second part will consist of several mock traffic stops and golf cart driving courses. Participants must be Goochland residents, high-school students under 18, and possess a minimum of a learner's permit. As a bonus, lunch will be provided to all participants.
Please contact Deputy Scott Leabough (sleabough@goochlandva.us) or the Sherriff’s Office (804-556-5349) if you have any questions or need assistance with registration.
Underclassmen Pictures
Proofs from the October 26th - 27th Underclassmen Picture sessions are in! Bulldog Block teachers handed them out this week to students who had pictures taken at this session. Please see your Bulldog Block teacher to get your proofs.
If you weren't here for the previous session, please plan on getting your picture taken at our Underclassmen Retake Session on Tuesday, November 28th. Any student who needs a retake will have an opportunity to do so on this day. Please see Mrs. Mistler (kmistler@glnd.k12.va.us) with questions!
Veterans’ Day Ceremony
On Monday, November 13th, GHS will hold our annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony at 9:30 am in the school auditorium. Our seniors and juniors will attend the event in person, and our freshmen and sophomores will view the ceremony via live stream from their block 1 classroom. We also ask that our students and teachers wear red, white, and blue that day to honor our service members.
Please wish our MCJROTC Cadets and Band members luck as we celebrate America and those brave few who answered her clarion call to serve in her defense.
Yearbook
Please consider purchasing your 2023-2024 yearbook for $60 HERE! This fantastic deal expires on Monday, January 1st. After this date, prices will increase to $70. Make sure to order your yearbook through the Balfour website or scan any QR code on the yearbook signs in the school. Please contact Mrs. Mistler (kmistler@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions. We will have a spring release this year, so yearbooks will be in your hands before we leave for the summer!
