Cheer Tryouts

GHS football sideline cheer tryouts for the 2023-24 school year will be held on Tuesday, May 30th, and Wednesday, May 31st from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Participants must have a sports physical on file to try out.

Please reach out to Coach Toney (ctoney@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions!

Dual Enrollment Fees

Dual enrollment course fees have been assigned as an obligation in OSP for any student who has requested a Reynolds Community College class in their 2023-24 schedule. This obligation includes all ACA students. Goochland County Public Schools has made the decision not to attach a service fee to dual enrollment obligations in OSP, so families are still able to pay online without paying an additional cost. The prices for summer courses were due no later than Monday, May 15th, while the 2023-24 school year fees are not due until Tuesday, August 1st.

Please reach out to Dr. Fowler (bfowler@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions regarding payment or to request an application for financial assistance.

Excused Absences (June 5th - 7th)

Our teachers plan to send home Excused Absence Letters on Tuesday, May 30th, to underclassmen who passed their SOLs and completed all final exams and end-of-year assignments. This letter will allow your child to have an excused absence from school during the identified days on the letter. To receive the excused absences, students will need to get teacher initials from each of their teachers, a parent's signature, and return the form to their Bulldog Block teacher by Friday, June 2nd

Please contact your son’s or daughter’s Bulldog Block teacher if you have any questions.

GCPS Cheer Camp

The GHS cheerleaders and coaches will host a cheer camp for elementary through middle school-aged students on Thursday, June 8th, and Friday, June 9th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Goochland Middle School gym. They will be teaching skills, 20 cheers, team bonding, crafts, and so much MORE! The cost is $40 per cheerleader. Please complete this registration form to attend. Please contact Carrie Toney at ctoney@glnd.k12.va.us with any questions.

GCPS - Closed

As a reminder, all Goochland County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, May 29th, for the Memorial Day holiday. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and remembers those in our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving this great country.

Senior Materials Collection

If a senior could not turn in all materials on Friday, May 26th, the last opportunity would be during graduation practice on Saturday, June 3rd. Students will not receive graduation tickets until all obligations are fulfilled. Here are a few details regarding our laptop return process for seniors:

  • Seniors must be cleared of all obligations (laptops, textbooks, calculators, etc.).

  • It is recommended that seniors back up their laptops to retain any documents. Directions for backing up the computer and transferring Google accounts are here.

  • Seniors must turn in three required items: Laptop ($679), laptop charger ($50), laptop case ($35), and Kajeet items (if issued to you).

  • If an item is missing, the obligation will need to be paid in full to replace it.

If you have any questions about the information above, please email Ms. Richards (crichards@glnd.k12.va.us).

SOL Testing Retakes

Students scoring in the expedited retake range for Math and Science have been notified by their teacher. Math retakes will take place on Monday, June 5th. Science retakes will take place on Tuesday, June 6th. All make-ups will also take place at that time.  Students eligible for a retake or in need of a makeup must attend school on the designated day(s).

Please contact Dr. Rainbolt (srainbolt@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions.

Spring Testing Calendar

Please refer to the GHS Spring 2023 Testing Calendar for end-of-the-year testing information and upcoming events. This year, we plan to hold two asynchronous days to accommodate our staffing needs during SOL testing. Only students who must take an SOL will report on those dates. All other students will work on previously assigned work from home. No one will be required to log into a virtual class on those days.

Additionally, all students must take final exams during the specified testing window. Anyone unable to attend school during the exam window must have a parent contact their administrator.

Please contact me (mwright@glnd.k12.va.us) or Dr. Rainbolt (srainbolt@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions.
