All other students will remain home and work on existing assignments for their Day 1 classes. If you would like your student to leave GHS after their SOL, please email Ms. Timberlake (ltimberlake@glnd.k12.va.us).

Athletics and Activities

GHS spring sports season is rolling along.  Please visit www.GoochlandBulldogs.com for up-to-date schedule information. Many of these events can be streamed live at www.NFHSNetwork.com. Feel free to contact Joe Fowler (jfowler@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions or need more information.  Tickets can be purchased at www.TicketSpicket.com.

College Vaccination Records

If your college-bound student needs their vaccination records, Nurse Duffey can provide those for you. Please reach out to her at kduffey@glnd.k12.va.us.  Please allow 24 hours for turn-around time for the records.

Dual Enrollment Fees

Dual enrollment course fees have been assigned as an obligation in OSP for any student who has requested a Reynolds Community College class in their 2023-24 schedule. This obligation includes all ACA students. Goochland County Public Schools has made the decision not to attach a service fee to dual enrollment obligations in OSP, so families are still able to pay online without paying an additional cost. The fees for summer courses were due no later than Monday, May 15th, while the fees for the 2023-24 school year are not due until Tuesday, August 1st.

Please reach out to Dr. Fowler (bfowler@glnd.k12.va.us) with any questions regarding payment or to request an application for financial assistance.

From the Learning Commons

All textbooks, library books, and calculators are due on Friday, May 26th. Please return all loaner laptops and loaner chargers as well. We do not assess fines, but we will charge for the replacement of lost items. We emailed a list of items loaned out to all student emails last week. Thank you for supporting your school by returning borrowed materials on time!

Please email Ms. Palmer (apalmer@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions or concerns.

GCPS Summer Intersession Registration

Registration for the Goochland County Public Schools June intersession is now open until Friday, May 26th! An intersession is an opt-in, multi-day learning experience that combines literacy, research, creativity, and fun at no cost to families. Each intersession will provide a unique learning opportunity that merges student interest and teacher passion. From Cooking with STEM to Game Design, students will have the chance to explore a wide range of topics.

Intersession will run Tuesday - Friday, June 20th - 23rd from 8:00 am - 2:30 pm at Goochland Elementary School (elementary sessions) and 9:00 am - 3:30 pm at the Secondary Complex (secondary sessions). GCPS will provide student transportation to and from designated stops across the county at no cost and breakfast and lunch for purchase. Transportation will only be provided at the beginning and end of a full day of intersessions. Students attending a half-day intersession will need to make arrangements for mid-day transportation.

Registration is based on the student’s current grade level (2022-23 school year). Please understand that availability of these sessions is contingent on enrollment numbers. Sessions may not be offered if enrollment is low, so we encourage all to register soon! In the event that a course reaches student capacity, students will be added to a waitlist automatically.

Visit https://gcpsintersessions2023.coursestorm.com/ for a complete list of course offerings and to register!

If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to our Intersession Coordinators, Catherine Richards, and Caroline Van Ness, at intersessions@glnd.k12.va.us.

Senior Materials Collection

Seniors will have an opportunity to turn in their GCPS-issued items (laptop, chargers, uniforms, textbooks, library books, etc.) following their senior walk on Friday, May 26th at 9:30 AM. They will also have another opportunity to return their items before graduation practice on Saturday, June 3rd at 10:00 AM.

  • Seniors must be cleared of all obligations (laptops, textbooks, calculators, etc.) before Friday, May 26th.

  • Seniors must back up their laptops. Directions for backing up the computer and transferring Google accounts are here.

  • Seniors must turn in three required items: Laptop ($679), laptop charger ($50), laptop case ($35), and Kajeet items (if issued to you).

  • If an item is missing, the obligation will need to be paid in full to replace it.

If a senior cannot turn in all items by this time, the last opportunity will be during graduation practice on Saturday, June 3rd. Students will not be given graduation tickets until all obligations are fulfilled.

If you have any questions about the information above, please email Ms. Richards (crichards@glnd.k12.va.us).

SOL Testing Reminder

Students: If you are taking any of the SOL tests on Wednesday, May 24th, please make sure that you bring both a fully charged laptop and your computer charger to school. The Learning Commons does not have enough loaner laptops or chargers to meet everyone's needs, so please don't forget to grab both before leaving the house. Good luck!

Spring Testing Calendar

Please refer to the GHS Spring 2023 Testing Calendar for end-of-the-year testing information and upcoming events. This year, we plan to hold two asynchronous days to accommodate our staffing needs during SOL testing. Only students who must take an SOL will report on those dates. All other students will work on previously assigned work from home. No one will be required to log into a virtual class on those days.

Additionally, all students must take final exams during the specified testing window. Anyone unable to attend school during the exam window must have a parent contact their administrator.

Please contact me (mwright@glnd.k12.va.us) or Dr. Rainbolt (srainbolt@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have any questions.
