ACA Graduation (Update)

This is just in! Reynolds Community College graduation date has changed. The date of ACA Commencement has been changed to Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Stuart C. Siegel Center at 1200 W. Broad St. The start time for the ceremony will be 7:00 p.m.

More information may be found on the Reynolds Commencement website at go.reynolds.edu/graduation. We look forward to honoring graduates and their families on May 15, 2023!

All Night Graduation 

The All-Night Graduation Committee (ANG) is having their last big fundraiser of the year, Casino Night with Silent Auction at Bandits Ridge on Friday, March 24th.  They have invited the Senior and Junior class (only) to attend with the Adults. Doors Open at 6:00, games begin at 7:00.  For additional information and to purchase your Early Bird Tickets before 3/13, please visit this link.   

They are looking for a Senior that would like to compose or recite a poem to be read at the Baccalaureate service on Sunday, May 21th.  Anyone interested is asked to please submit your information to sandyatccc@aol.com before 3/21.

The Baccalaureate service will be held at GHS on 5/21 at 4:30.  Look for additional information as the event gets closer.

Career Speaker

Mr. Mark Smith, Midas of Richmond owner, will be providing an informational session about his career on Monday, March 6th during Bulldog Block in the auditorium. If your student is interested, please fill out this form.

Students who sign up will receive a SmartPass on the day of the event. Please check in with your Bulldog block teacher first. If you have any specific questions, please contact Ms. Christin East (ceast@glnd.k12.va.us). 

College Information Night

On Monday, March 13th at 6:00 pm, School Counseling will be having a virtual College Information Night for underclass students and parents who want to learn more about the college admissions process and what they could be doing to prepare. Fine Arts Festival

March is Youth Art Month! Please come out and celebrate the Fine Arts in Goochland County Public Schools at our annual Fine Arts Festival, Friday, March 24th, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Enjoy visual art displays, music, drama, chorus, and theater performances from all five schools. The event will also include interactive art activities hosted by the National Art Honor Society and the Empty Bowls soup fundraiser hosted by the Ceramics program. The GCPS Fine Arts Festival is a fun event for the whole family, so we hope to see you there!

My Princess Project

Attention 11th and 12th Graders: The My Princess Project is a nonprofit to help provide students with a prom dress that might otherwise not be able to afford one. My Princess Project is holding our second Boutique Event on March 25th and 26th, where we give MPP participants an opportunity to shop at our Boutique Event for a free prom dress and accessories.

If you are a Junior or a Senior and are interested in our program, please visit our website at

www.myprincessproject.org and click get a dress to see if you might qualify for our program. The links are attached at the bottom and need to be submitted by Thursday, March 9th to be considered. If you aren't sure and have questions, you can call Mary Thumma at (804) 723-1402. You can also reach out to Ms. Lorello (llorello@glnd.k12.va.us) with questions. This program is on a first-come/first-serve basis with limited spaces.

Partnership for the Future

Applications are now open! Partnership for the Future is a non-profit organization committed to equipping high-achieving students for success in college and beyond. They primarily serve low-income and/or first-generation students in the Richmond area that are motivated to attend college. See the flyer for more information and the application.

Scheduling 2023-24 School Year  

School Counselors have been meeting with students for their one-on-one Academic and Career Planning meetings. Parents are welcome to attend those meetings virtually or in person with their child as we update their academic and career plans and make sure students are on track for their graduation requirements.  Please contact your child’s school counselor if you would like to attend.

Sophomore ACA Kick-Off

Sophomore ACA students and parents, please mark your calendars now for Wednesday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM! You are cordially invited to join the Reynolds Career Coach, the ACA Site Director, current professors, and students that evening for our virtual ACA Summer Preparation Kick-off (available via Google Meet at meet.google.com/wkh-eugf-ewy). We'll cover topics such as the required summer course outline, payment timelines, communication channels, access to resources, and strategies for planning, surviving, and thriving beyond the summer. Spring MAP Assessments

Spring MAPS testing will begin the week of March 21st in Math and English classes. MAPs testing is a chance for students and teachers to see student growth over the school year. We strongly encourage our students to get plenty of rest before taking these critical assessments. Please reach out to your child’s Math or English teacher if you have any questions.

Traffic - New GES

There may be additional traffic on Bulldog Way throughout the day due to clearing property for the New Goochland Elementary School.  At times, road crews could be directing traffic as large equipment enters and exits the roadway.  Please keep this in mind as you travel to and from GHS.

Women’s History Month

In recognition of Women’s History Month GHS will sponsor guest speakers during Bulldog Block on March 8, 2023- Personal Hygiene; March 15, 2023- Mental Health; and March 22, 2023- Women’s Health.   More details will be provided during our morning PA announcements.
