✅ First day for Preschool, Kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade students ONLY

📅 Tuesday, August 19
✅ All students attend school

Goochland Social Services, in partnership with the Henrico Education Foundation, is excited to bring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to our community!

Children from birth to age five can receive a free, high-quality book every month — no income requirements, no strings attached.

Our goal: reach 85% of all eligible children in Goochland. Let’s make it happen!

We are so proud of our Goochland High School seniors! At this morning’s Senior Scholarship Breakfast, students were awarded over 65 scholarships from 28 generous organizations and community partners. This event celebrated not only the hard work of our students but also the incredible support of our community, which continues to invest in the future of our graduates. 🔥 Special Olympics Torch Run & Unified Track Meet 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Yesterday’s Unified Track Meet between Goochland High School and Monticello High School began with an inspiring Special Olympics Torch Run, led by the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office and supported by Goochland County Fire-Rescue. We are so grateful for our first responders and their continued support of inclusive events that celebrate unity, sportsmanship, and student achievement. The energy, teamwork, and Bulldog pride were on full display as athletes from both schools competed side by side.

We’re proud to celebrate three incredible student-athletes who officially committed to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level! 🐾🎓 👏 Two standout softball players (Kendall and Ellie) and one talented football player (Trevor) will be taking their skills to the college stage next year. These Bulldogs are continuing their journeys in theatre, visual arts, and dance at the collegiate level, and we couldn’t be prouder. 👏 Join us in congratulating them on this exciting next step. Their creativity, dedication, and passion inspire us all!

Congratulations to Goochland High School’s JROTC unit on winning the Regional Championship at today’s MCJROTC Raider Competition! Our cadets showed outstanding strength, teamwork, and determination as they competed against top units from across the region — and came out on top! We are so proud of their hard work and leadership. Yesterday morning, Goochland County Public Schools hosted our Business and Education Roundtable—and we’re feeling energized by the conversations that took place! We were proud to welcome representatives from over 30 local businesses and organizations for a meaningful dialogue about how GCPS is preparing students for life after high school—and how we can continue to grow and improve our efforts. From career pathways and internships to essential workplace skills, our guests shared valuable insights and ideas to help ensure our graduates are ready for what’s next. We’re especially grateful for our strong partnership with the Goochland County Economic Development Office, whose ongoing support and promotion of school-business partnerships play a vital role in this work. Thank you to everyone who joined us today. Your collaboration and commitment to our students’ futures is what makes Goochland such a special place to live, learn, and work.
