Goochland High School’s STEM Day on November 6th was a huge success! What is STEM Day, you say? STEM Day is a chance for students to learn more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, and its relevance, through a team-based project or challenge. All STEM Day activities involved collaboration between two teachers (a science or CTE teacher with an English, history or foreign language teacher) and focused on development of critical life skills such as teamwork, communication, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving. While each pair of classes completed a different project, the projects all allowed students to learn about specific STEM concepts and see how those concepts connect to other content areas and are relevant to our everyday lives. Check out the amazing collaborations between content areas HERE that provided rich learning experiences for our students. A big thank you to our STEM Day leads, Ms. Desmarais and Ms. Borgie, for putting this all together!
Does your child’s anxiety or perfectionism cause you concern? Is he or she stressed about grades, homework, acceptance to a program or university? Does your child have trouble getting along with others of the same age? Students of all ages appear to be experiencing the effects of increasing pressures and demands from all directions. Parents and educators worry about how to help children navigate their world. Join us to hear from a nationally recognized and highly acclaimed expert on this topic. Parents, we need your feedback! Goochland County Public Schools is interested in hearing your voice concerning possible future offerings in the Career and Technical Education Department. As this affects offerings for years to come, we would like to hear from parents who have students at all grade levels. Please take a moment to complete this brief survey. Your opinions are important to us as we continue to strive to meet the needs of all of our students and the community.
Good afternoon Goochland families,
We apologize for the short notice, but Bluestone High School has chosen not to travel to Goochland High for tonight’s football game due to concerns related to their current roster, which would not include enough players to safely compete at GHS.
All senior night activities will now take place at next Friday’s first round regional playoff game, which will take place at home at Goochland High.
Thank you all for your understanding and have a great weekend,
Andy Armstrong, Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations
On Monday, November 11th, GHS will host our annual Veterans’ Day Ceremony at 10:30 am in the school auditorium. This event is open to the public, and all are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please join our MCJROTC Cadets, Band, and Jazz Choir as we celebrate America and those brave few who answered her clarion call to serve in her defense.
