Parent-Teacher Conferences- 10/28
Goochland High School will host Parent-Teacher Conferences on Monday, October 28th, from 12:00- 7:00 pm. Parents can make appointments with our teachers for Parent-Teacher Conferences using the PTCFast website. Directions for using this system are available here: https://tinyurl.com/GHSPTCDirections
Parents, you are a vital partner in the education of your child, and these conferences play an important role in helping us plan and implement programs to meet the expectations you have for your child’s education. If you are not able or do not wish to register online, or if you cannot schedule a conference for this time, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher(s) directly to arrange a meeting. You may also contact Ms. Richards (crichards@glnd.k12.va.us) if you have technical difficulties. We look forward to seeing you on Monday!
Report Cards and Attendance
Report cards will be distributed during 1st Block on Friday, October 25th. Please check with your son or daughter to make sure they have received it. We also strongly encourage our students’ parents to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences on Monday, October 28th between 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm. We will send out a digital sign-up sheet for those conferences later this week.
As we bring Marking Period 1 to a close, we would also like to remind you of our attendance procedures at GHS. As in previous years, we ask that parents call the school between 8:00 am -10:00 am to report their child’s absence. Students who are absent must bring a note on the first day they return to school stating the reason(s) for their absences. Notes are held as legal records of student absences. In addition, students wishing to leave school early without their parents present must bring a WRITTEN excuse signed by their parents by 10:00 am the day of the early dismissal. In the case of an emergency, parents may call in and ask for administrative approval for an early dismissal over the phone. A huge thanks to all of our students’ parents who have helped us by following these procedures throughout the beginning of the school year.
Make-Up and Senior Pictures
Tuesday, October 22nd, is make-up picture day at GHS. Underclass students who need to make-up pictures or retake pictures should report to Studio A either during their Bulldog Block period or during their lunch period on this day. Parents can order photos from this photoshoot by going to mylifetouch.com and using the Picture Day ID RV029074Q1.
Seniors who have not taken portraits will also be photographed on Tuesday, October 22nd in Studio A. These are by appointment. Mrs. Hudak has published the appointment times on the Class of 2020 Schoology group and on bulletin boards on the main hallway near the cafeteria and the B hall. This is the last opportunity for seniors to be photographed for the yearbook, so don’t miss your appointment. If a senior chooses to use a company other than Lifetouch, these images are due to Mrs. Hudak amhudak@glnd.k12.va.us by November 1st. Please choose a drape or tuxedo shot with a blue background.
Kindness Month
Every October we celebrate Kindness Month at GHS. Kindness is one of our core values, and this month we are challenging all Bulldogs to focus on doing kind acts for others. Each day we are giving students a Kindness Challenge to complete and take the time to recognize the kindness of others. Please encourage your son or daughter to participate!
