The 2019-20 course selection process is underway, and we are proud to announce that this process has gone totally online this year! Students will be able to select their courses through PowerSchool anytime between February 11 and February 14. Counselors have met with students through classroom visitation to explain the process and to share the blue course registration worksheet. Please also join us on February 7th from 5:00-8:00 pm for Curriculum Night to explore the many class options available to students next year!
Archives for February 2019
During February, GHS is excited to celebrate Black History Month through our “American Legacies: Exploring culture and contributions through the content” program. Each day of February we will highlight one famous national or state African-American via our student announcements. Students in US History and Government classes will prepare slideshows highlighting the accomplishments of African-Americans and the Civil Rights movement, while students in Ceramics and Art classes will create artwork inspired through their research of Black History. During the week of February 19th, the slideshows and artwork will be on display during lunches. In addition, our Step Team will perform during lunches on February 25th, our chorus will sing songs inspired by African Americans, our jazz band will play music inspired by African American jazz musicians, and our Dance Company will perform dance routines inspired by African Americans. We are extremely excited to celebrate the accomplishments of these great American heroes!
This week we celebrate our School Counselors during National School Counseling Week! Secondary school counselors enhance the learning process and promote academic achievement. This week at GHS, we want to thank Laurie Deadrick (Grasp and Soar Advisor), Beth Fowler, Doug Getter, Ashton Guza and Taylor Reahard (ACA Career Coach) for their hard work and dedication to provide our students with outstanding support. Please join me by taking a moment this week to let them know how much you appreciate them!
