The American Legion Auxiliary Post 215 has made its choices in determining the winners of the 2018 Americanism Essay Contest! Chairman Shirley Bonovitch shared that junior Kennedy Carter won first place in the Class V grade level of the competition, sophomore Koby Anderson won first place in the Class IV grade level of the competition, junior Savannah Slater won second place in Class V, and in Class IV sophomore Claire Anderson received an honorable mention. All student essays submitted for the local contest will now proceed to the state and national level for judging, so we could see even more Goochland winners before 2018 is over! Last year our own senior Chloe Lyda won the state competition, and prior to that, senior Rachel Edwards won the state, so let’s see if we can keep that tradition going! Congratulations to these wonderful writers, and congrats to all who took part in the contest; the judging was described as extremely difficult due to the abundance of talent and strength of writing from our students. Way to go, Bulldog writers!
