Service Academy Day 2016

Mark R. Warner cordially invites you to Service Academy Day 2016.

One of his most important responsibilities as Senator is nominating young men and women for admission to our country’s service academies – the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Navel Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.  Recognizing the importance of a good college education, he would like to emphasize the opportunities that exist at our nation’s distinguished service academies.

He will be holding a Virginia Academy Day on Saturday, April 23rd at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville.  High school and junior high school students, their parents and school counselors will be provided a comprehensive overview of the United States service academies and their admissions process.  Students will be able to meet with officials from all five service academies as well as representatives from ROTC programs.  Representatives from Virginia Congressional offices will be available to answer questions regarding the application procedures for congressional nominations.

National Rural Electric Washington Youth Tour

Each year since 1964, the National Rural Electric Washington Youth Tour has been a means for high school students to visit Washington, D.C., interact with their peers from around the country, learn about Cooperatives, and meet their Congressmen and Senators.  This year, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) will select 7 juniors for the FREE June 12-16 trip.  In addition, REC will award a $500 scholarship to one student based upon their participation during Youth Tour.

  1. Students should be enrolled in the 11th grade during the 2015-2016 school year
  2. Applicants whose parents or guardians are members of REC will be given primary consideration for selection

Applications are available in the School Counseling office.  Completed applications are due to the counseling office by February 24th.
